A hearing has been scheduled for HB 2811,
The Emergency Powers Act, on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at 2:30pm. This
hearing will be held by the Elections and Governmental Organization Committee in
the Docking building, Room 784, in Topeka. This committee generally meets
at 3:30pm so keep checking for updates in case the time is changed from 2:30pm
to 3:30pm.
If you know of anyone who is personally from
Greensburg, KS or was involved in gun confiscations in Greensburg, KS or New
Orleans we need their testimony. Please have them contact me
immediately. Jordan Austin of the NRA and myself will testify and so will
several legislators who support this bill. It is extremely important that
we fill the room with supporters. A show of numbers always makes a huge
difference.
I urge you to attend this hearing if at all
possible. If you plan to attend, please let me know so we have an idea how
many supporters to expect. Again, folks, this is your chance to help make
a difference. Please attend this hearing. We need to be sure that
this bill passes out of committee and your show of support by attending can make
that happen. At a minimum, please call and email the committee
members supporting HB 2811, The Emergency Powers Act.
